Key responsibilIties

  • The Youth Manager is responsible for managing the onboard youth and family product, ensuring a guest-centric experience that aligns with brand standards. They create positive connections and memorable moments through engaging activities, monitor Youth Program operation, and inspire a guest and teammate-centric culture. 
  • The Youth Manager drives accountability and ownership of the Service Excellence philosophy among the Youth Staff team, ensuring guest satisfaction and supporting the team in providing excellent youth and family programming.
  • The Youth Manager works closely with the Entertainment Director and other shipboard leaders to capture best practices and share insights on operational efficiencies. They oversee the development, implementation, and execution of all programs and products, ensuring the safety and security of children participating in the Youth Program. They manage consumable inventories and budgetary impact and collaborate with other departments to support revenues initiatives targeting families.
  • The Youth Manager promotes an inclusive culture and instills Shared Purpose and Core Values throughout the Youth Staff team. They promote a positive environment at all times and mentor the Youth Staff team through coaching, training, and ongoing development programs. They support teammates' innovations and ideas for enhancing performance and collaborate with stakeholders throughout the development, approval, and implementation process.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE


  • Minimum of 5 years shipboard experience (any cruise line).
  • Minimum of 2 years in a Youth Manager position or equivalent,
  • Degree in teaching/education, recreation or related field required. 
  • Extensive knowledge of shipboard operations and proven track record of successfully implementing Youth Staff programs.
  • Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Effective communication skills and fluency in English (both spoken and written).
  • Strong leadership skills and previous experience managing international teams.
  • Excellent people skills and a warm, friendly and caring personality. 
  • Solid understanding of guest service fundamentals; ability and willingness to provide outstanding service to our guests.
  • Ability to consistently surprise and delight guests throughout their cruise experience. 
  • Commitment to establishing and maintaining courteous and professional working relationships in a diverse cultural environment.
